Easy baby + toddler flatbreads (3 ingredients!)
These baby and toddler friendly quick flatbreads are super easy to make and are a non-UPF flatbread option for the whole family. They are perfect as a snack or for dunking into dips likes hummus.
YOU NEED:
100g wholemeal or plain flour, I find plain easier to work with, so if you want an easier option- go for plain. However, wholemeal is more nutritious than plain!
80mls milk
1-2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil, plus a little extra for cooking
TO MAKE:
Place the flour in a bowl, grab a wooden spoon and stir in the milk
Then stir through the olive oil, a teaspoon at a time, checking the consistency, before grabbing the dough with your hands and kneading for 3-4 mins
Let it rest for 5–10 mins if you’ve got time (makes it easier to roll)
Divide the dough into 2 and roll each one out
Scrape a little bit of oil around a pan (or dry-fry if you prefer) each flat bread in a hot non-stick pan for 1–2 mins on each side, or until the flatbread starts to bubble or is cooked/browning underneath
Try cutting the flatbread into fingers and dipping the flatbreads in hummus, or try my roasted red blend, or try dipping into a soft boiled egg or spreading a baby-safe pesto on top
Step 3 milk ladder recipe (non-IgE milk allergy)
Milk ladder instructions. Slice the flatbread into 4 fingers.
Day 1: Start with 1-2 fingers
Day 2: 3 fingers
Day 3: target portion one whole flatbread (4 fingers!). Although - this is quite a large portion for a baby, so spread it out across the day, and aim for as much of the full portion as possible.
Following the milk ladder can be nerve-wracking, but going slowly and monitoring progress will help. I offer personalised guidance on navigating the milk ladder: book a 1:1 with me today. Check the booking page for the next available slot we can be chatting as early as tomorrow
