Step 2 milk ladder recipe

Quick oven pittas- no yeast no rise! These baby and toddler friendly quick oven pittas are super easy to make and are a non-UPF baby pitta bread alternative. They keep for a couple of days in an airtight container or you can freeze and then defrost. They are also suitable for babies on step 2 of the iMAP non-IgE milk ladder.

YOU NEED

  • 100g wholemeal flour

  • 50mls milk

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

TO MAKE

  1. Place the flour in a bowl, grab a wooden spoon and stir in the milk

  2. Then stir through the olive oil before grabbing the dough with your hands and kneading for 3-4 mins

  3. Divide the dough in 2 then roll into 2 balls. Roll the balls out one by one with a rolling pin. Place the pitta rounds onto a sheet of baking paper and place in the middle of the oven for 15 mins then remove and allow to cool

  4. Slice each pitta into 4 fingers!

Try dipping the pitta in hummus, dipping into a soft boiled egg or spreading some dairy free spread - or a baby-safe pesto - on top
